Grief

That time I thought I could not go any closer to grief without dying. I went closer, and I did not die.
— Mary Oliver

Grief is a universal human experience and yet it can feel isolating and lonely.  Just as every relationship is unique, so is the loss that accompanies it.  Sometimes it feels like if we share our grief we will burden those around us, or they won’t understand the depth of our sorrow, or the words we have to express our experience sound hollow and contrived.  There is an implicit cultural expectation that after a couple months we must move on.  As a result, many people feel forced to conceal their grief and begin to wonder if something is wrong with them because they are still deeply affected by the loss. While grief is a normal response to loss, unresolved grief inhibits one's ability to live a full, healthy life.  Grief can be extremely painful; it can also be the source of incredible strength, resilience, and meaning.  Grief therapy provides an opportunity to share strong feelings, normalize your experience and connect with the ways loss gives meaning to your life.
