About Me

I am a native Austinite with over nine years of clinical experience.  I have worked in hospitals, clinics, agencies, and private practice, with a diverse set of clientele.  I hold an undergraduate degree from Trinity University in San Antonio and a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University in California.

My work is informed and inspired by my belief in the importance of people cultivating meaningful relationships with themselves and others.  Relationships serve as the underlying structure by which we organize our personalities and shape our behaviors.  We establish relationship patterns early in life with our caregivers that serve as the model for how we manage our needs and desires as we mature.  It is through the therapeutic relationship that we learn to recognize those patterns and the underlying needs that reinforce them.  We are invited to explore new, previously unconsidered ways of meeting of relating within the safe context of therapy.  By establishing new patterns that reflect our values and choices, we heal our emotional wounds, and discover ways of connecting with ourselves and others that promote intimacy, growth and freedom.

I have extensive training and practice in mindfulness meditation through which I work to cultivate greater compassion, awareness, and connection with myself and the people I serve.  I continue to grow and mature as a therapist through ongoing supervision, consultation, membership in professional organizations, and attending clinical workshops, conferences and meditation retreats.
